All Faith's Chapel in the Woods
This all-faith’s worship center is in the middle of the woods off the coast of central California. The idea that being immersed in the woods and nature while worshiping could bring further spirituality and closeness to the deity(s) being honored. The building is formed around the trees to disturb them as little as possible. An undisturbed tree in the middle of the worship space brings nature into direct contact with the people.
All materials are locally bought and shipped to reduce the carbon footprint and connect Californian materials to the spirituality of its woods.
Tall windows that can be opened allows for natural sunlight and wind to flow throughout the building to bring more natural immersion and reduce the amount of energy used to run the building.
A walkable pathway through the woods lets users go on their own spiritual journey and connect with themselves or their creator.
